The art department faculty will showcase their fine works in La Sierra's Brandstater Gallery from Nov. 10 - Dec. 11. There will be a reception for the artists on Nov. 10 from 6–8 pm. Hours are Mon-Thu, 10am–4pm and Sunday 2–5pm. The gallery will be closed Nov. 24 - Nov. 29 for Thanksgiving. Admission is free.
Faculty Art Show
In the season finale, the Golden Eagles defeated the Whittier College Poets 3-2 on their home turf on Oct. 29. LSU's Leslie Hoffman, Tabitha Bunch and Bri Bunch scored the winning goals. The LSU women's soccer team closes this year's season with an overall winning record of 9-8. Go Eagles!

Convocation 2008
Roughly 55 students spent time around Riverside eliminating graffiti, planting rosebushes, tutoring kids and teaching recycling-oriented crafts. The community work was part of their training as student leaders and mentors for the newly arrived freshman class.

Wind Ensemble
  • Wind Ensemble concert to feature infernos, drums and holidaysLa Sierra University’s Wind Ensemble will play it up during their fall concert this Saturday evening. The group will perform a range of works including Robert W. Smith's “The Inferno“ and “The Ascension,” based on the imagery of Dante’s “Divine Comedy,” and Sam Hazo’s “Across the Halfpipe,” featuring percussion instruments, Richard Saucedo’s “Full Tilt!,” as well as a piece for the holidays. Conducting and composition student Nic Coffey, in his conducting debut, will present Gordon Goodwin’s “Ever Braver, Ever Stronger.” The event will be held Sat., Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. in the university’s Hole Memorial Auditorium. Symphony Art Work
  • LSU symphony to play Classical/Romantic greats On Sun., Nov. 16 at 7 p.m., the La Sierra University Symphony Orchestra will perform some of the Romantic era's best works. The symphony’s fall program will feature Gioachino Rossini's "Overture to La Cenerentola" and Johann Nepomuk Hummel's "Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra in E Major" with faculty member and trumpeter Richard Hofmann. The orchestra will also perform Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 8, the "Unfinished Symphony." The concert will take place in Hole Memorial Auditorium. Admission is free.
